Crown Princess Leonor of Spain was elegant in camouflage as her father King Felipe visited a military centre where she is training this week.

The 18-year-old future queen, who is the daughter of Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain, swept her hair into a plait and donned a military uniform for her father’s visit at General Military Academy at San Gregorio National Training Centre in Zaragoza.

During the visit, Crown Princess Leonor was snapped shaking hands with her father while he conducted a royal inspection of the troops. The pair seemed in high spirits during the outing, and chatted with Leonor’s fellow students at the training centre.

King Felipe, who also wore an army uniform as the Commander-in-chief of all the Spanish armies Land, Navy and Air Force for the visit, beamed proudly as he saw his daughter at the centre. The pair sat next to each other as they enjoyed lunch with the military students.

Just as his daughter Leonor is carrying out military training to prepare for her role as future commander-in-chief of the Spanish army, King Filipe was a member of the armed forces in 1985, where he worked in the navy and air force. Seeing his eldest daughter at the military centre must have been particularly poignant for the undoubtedly proud father of two.

Princess Leonor, whose official title is the Princess of the Astorias, is in her first of three years of intense military training, which will take her to the naval academy and the General Air Academy.

The royal turned 18 in October and has been stepping into the spotlight as she prepares for her future role as Queen of Spain.
